I have the skills to address the concerns of the Southeast District.
WHY KATHRYN?
Proven Leader.
I am currently serving in my fourth year on the County Council. Previously I served for 9 years on the Nibley City Council with 2 years prior service on Nibley Planning and Zoning Commission. I listen to residents, do my homework, and make educated decisions to align with the goals of our community. In the private sector, as a part of Executive Management at Cache Valley Bank, I help local businesses thrive and drive success for our institution by collaborating to make decisions that ensure profitability and achieve long-term goals.
Cache Valley Values.
As a lifelong Republican, I am committed to the ideals of conservatism, self reliance, and less government taxation and interference in our lives. My parents raised me with a love for God, respect for freedom, responsibility to serve our fellow man and the importance of frugality and hard work. These principles guide how I lead.
Family First.
The family is the building block of our society. My family is my number one priority. Strong families will strengthen our community. Our communities are at their best when we focus on our families the most.
Pioneer Spirit.
I am a lifelong resident of our district. My ancestors crossed the plains and were among the first settlers of Cache Valley. Their examples of hard work, faith, dedication, and grit have been instilled in me since I can remember. I am proud of my Cache Valley pioneer heritage.
Effective.
As a member of the Cache County Council, I’m currently serving my second term as Vice-Chair. Over the duration of my term, I’ve worked to improve transparency, help residents better understand how county government works, and ensure public safety and law enforcement are properly funded.
When I first ran for office, one of my priorities was preserving large tracts of land in our district as permanent open space. I’m proud to say we’ve been successful in protecting farmland from being lost to urban sprawl and keeping it in agriculture for future generations. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I’ve also focused on improving efficiency within county operations so we’re being thoughtful and responsible with taxpayer dollars.
Fiscal Responsibility.
My skills and experience as a member of Council have proven that I strive to maintain small budgets and limited government. I have a firm grasp on how local government generates funds as well as how to review budgets for responsible spending.
